The Benefit of Mural Painting

Murals are a type of painting, painters usually apply to an interior and exterior wall of buildings. The key difference compared to other types of paintings is that murals cover a large area rather than one place. Mural painting is a great way to decorate an entire wall or room. You can come up with intriguing images that are sure to grab the attention of everyone who sees them.

Mural painting is not just about covering up a boring office or house wall. There are many ideas you can use to decorate your walls in creative ways. Mural paintings tend to be exciting, bright and vivid. You can increase your property's curb appeal, value, and marketability by adding a mural to your walls before you sell. For a successful project, hire us to create a custom mural for you. Our experts can create the perfect scene and give your home or business a unique look.

Mural Painting & Design for All Types of Property

Mural painting isn't just for your walls anymore. In fact, you can have a mural painted just about anywhere that could use a little something extra, from floors to furniture. There are three main types of murals. These include Photography murals, painted scenery, and abstract murals, all of which you can use to capture a variety of visuals.

To find which type is best for your space, begin by deciding what you want to get out of the mural in the first place. Consider whether you want the mural to represent a particular experience, a certain topic, or be free to interpretation.

A Look Into the Process of Mural Painting

Start off by ensuring the wall is ready for painting. Cleaning, patching, and sanding the surface is necessary. The wall should also be completely dry and free of peeling paint or flakes. This is to ensure that the mural does not peel off once it has dried. Once done, priming comes to place. We recommend using a tinted primer to brighten colors. This also reduces the need to apply several coats since it has an opaque property to it.

When everything is ready, you may grid the wall to help you draw patterns. There are several ways of doing this including ruler and pencil, string line, or chalk line. This also makes it easier to follow your outline when actually painting the mural. After that, you can now do the actual painting. Use a paint brush for this since you will need precision and accuracy. You can also utilize padded rollers to create even strokes without any mess.

After the first coat, apply a second one if necessary. This also depends on how opaque your chosen paint is. Adjust accordingly to ensure the mural remains true to its picture and design. When done, let it dry for a few days before placing any furniture or fixtures near it.

  • Sponging

To develop a texture of a mural, such as details on clouds or leaves, it's useful to follow a technique called sponging. To add more depth and intrigue, you may sponge a color on top of another to produce a more deep effect. To sponge, first moisten your sponge and squeeze the extra water out of it using your hands. Then softly dab your moist sponge on some paper towels after dipping it in paint. Be sure not to use too much paint on your sponge since it will damage the look.

  • Stenciling

Because it is so easy, stenciling is a popular mural technique you can follow. Stencils are also available in a broad range of forms and sizes. To start, use painter's tap to fix the stencil to the wall. Hold the stencil in place with one hand while painting the color with the other. When lifting the stencil away, be careful around the edges since you don't want too much paint build-up on the edges. To avoid smearing, apply paint in a sweeping, circular motion around the edges.

  • Stippling

One of the most common mural methods for adding detail without worrying about mixing is stippling. You can do this by painting a thin coat of a different color on top of your selected underpainting after it has dried. Dab the wet paint with a dry stippling brush and stipple the fresh color around until the new layer is completely stippled. The new color will no longer seem "brushed on" and part of the underpainting will show through if done correctly.
